As the title suggests, the story revolves around 3 persons mainly.

2. Inspector Sarita Sarkar

The incharge of the police station John pays visit to. She eventually gets a very similar case of kidnapping. Good at heart Sarita is hardworking police officer.

3. Father Martin Das

Martin was in the police department before being a Father in the church. He was in fact the investigating officer of the kidnapping of Angela Biswas. John is still in his contact. When a similar kidnapping is happened, he was called in for help by Sarita Sarkar. Martin have something in his past which is still haunting him.

In current time, there happens a similar kidnapping of a boy __ (grandson of Manohar Sinha) which links these three fellows with the same mission; Catch the kidnapper.

The movie explores it quite interestingly, and is better to be explored on screen

Views and Reviews

If there is a single thing you can watch the movie for, it is acting of Amitabh Bachchan. It is a fantastic performance by him without a doubt. His body language also complements his acting. The way he walks, talks and does the things are all convincing.
Vidya Balan and Nawazudding Siddiqui are two notable actors and they have given some fantastic performances in past. In this movie, however their roles are not so challenging. In fact Vidya Balan’s role is very small. Both of them are convincing in their roles. Satyabrata have small yet important role (Manohar Sinha) which he justifies and makes his presence felt. Padmavati Rao is very effective in her even smaller role. It seems that she can give fantastic performance when given scope.

The background music of the movie is one of the most effective postie aspects of the same. It sets up the mood and mode of the scene perfectly. There is no scope of having traditional Bollywood movie songs in the story and good thing is they are not forced into too.

The script have good backing of the original story and is meant to be compelling. The screenplay writer’s main job was to set the events in Indian environment and change them for the target audience. We must say that the scriptwriter and director did their job effectively.

The city of Kolkata is explored pretty well. The realistic (real in most cases) locations adds the authenticity (in terms of the movie canvas) to the movie. Designing the wardrobe for the movie was quite challenging, but use of the day-to-day cloths to be used by the main characters works pretty well. The scooter and helmet used by John Biswas are well searched, many middle class families can relate to them quite easily. Such small details are actually the heart of the film and makes it more effective.

Crime thrillers are often found embedded with violence, brutality and skinshows. TE3N wisely avoids it. It is also one of the strong reasons to go for it. The suspense itself is built up nicely.

If the roles of Father Martin and Inspector Sarkar were written better, and also, if the explanation of Angela’s kidnapping was detailed (specifically the why? part), the movie could have been more impressive.
